What is Japan A to Z?

A weekly newsletter

Every Sunday, you’ll receive a free newsletter on everything from Japan from a local perspective in small bite sizes. I hope to write on topics like:

  • How to navigate your way around the mega city of Tokyo

  • Valuable information that is unlikely to appear in foreign media

  • When best to visit Japan so you won’t miss things like the cherry blossom season

  • Problems tourist destinations in Japan face, such as over-tourism at Mt. Fuji

  • Itineraries for efficient visits to major attractions

and more. I’m also open to suggestions and feedback. Feel free to comment or reach out if you have any questions about visiting Japan.

I will continue using NOTE to provide the most updated and useful information.

A bit about me

Hi, I’m Hideo. Thanks for dropping by! Having worked as a TV journalist and correspondent in Japan for over 30 years, I’ve visited many places and little-known spots where I wish to take my friends from abroad. So, I thought I could share some small tips for those visiting Japan in the form of a newsletter.

I have loved photography for many years and have taken many different photos in my travels. In 2023, I entered the World Meteorological Organization calendar contest for 2024 and was shortlisted, but unfortunately, I did not win a prize.

You can also book a private tour or contact me on my website, Twitter, or Instagram.
